Twinsburg Youth Softball League

The goal of the Twinsburg Youth Softball League (TYSL) is to provide Twinsburg schools system girls with an opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of softball. We recognize that individual youths have different objectives. Some want to have pure recreational fun while others are more interested in improving skills to prepare for school programs. The league attempts to satisfy both objectives. As such, we offer four programs.

The 2010 season is complete and was a big success. Thank you to all involved including the coaches, volunteers, parents, the TYSL board and especially the kids. A special thank you to all our sponsors.

The TYSL Meeting on Tuesday, September 14th, at 6:30 pm will be held at the Twinsburg Recreational Activities Center (TRAC). All are welcome and encouraged to attend, especially potential coaches and assistant coaches.

Competitive Fast Pitch Tryouts at Glenmeadow Park, Fields #2 and #3, based on the following schedule:

Rain dates are September 25th and 26th, with the same time schedule.

Please bring mitts, bats and any other equipment you might need. You can pre-register by filing out the 2011 Tryout Registration.

In order for your child to be considered for any of the TYSL competitive teams, attendance at one of these scheduled tryout dates is MANDATORY.

HELP NEEDED! All interested coaches for any of TYSL competitive teams are being asked to be in attendance to help evaluate and observe.

These try-outs have been designed to select a group of girls for the coaches to work with during the "off" season. This will also give TYSL players the ability to practice their softball skills during the winter at indoor facilities and to prepare them for the 2011 season. Final teams will be selected in the spring.

Slow Pitch (local to Twinsburg)

This is a recreational program for girls currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade. The girls will typically play two games per week, one on Saturday and one during the week. The season begins in mid-May and is finished by the July 4th holiday. The makeup of the divisions is as follows:

Instructional:   Kindergarten and 1st grade (coach pitch - advanced 1st graders can move up)
Division 1:       2nd and 3rd grades (coach pitch - advanced 3rd graders can move up)
Division 2:       4th & 5th grades (kid pitch)
Division 3:       6th - 8th grades (kid pitch)

Recreational Fast Pitch (local travel to neighboring communities)

This is a travel program for girls ages 11 - 18. The girls will be playing teams from other communities in our area. There are usually 2 games per week, one in Twinsburg. The makeup of the divisions will be: Ages: 13-14; 11-12.

Competitive Fast Pitch (local travel to neighboring communities)

This program is for more serious players. Many of the area communities (8 - 10) have put together one competitive 18, 14, 12 and 10 & under team. TYSL will enter one team in each division this year. Tryouts are held for the the U10, U12, and U14 competitive teams each fall for the next season.

Recreational High School Slow Pitch – grades 9-12

The TYSL has traditional Slow Pitch Softball teams in the Nordonia League. Home games are in Twinsburg and away games are nearby in Nordonia and possibly Hudson. This is recreational level softball with pitches having an arc, no stealing, etc. No prior softball experience is necessary and is meant for girls who wish to play softball but do not want competitive fastpitch. Practice starts in April and the season runs from late May through mid-July. Typically there are two games per week in the evening.

High School Slow Pitch is for girls currently in grades 9-12. Graduating seniors may play.
